LAGOS — The Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, today joined dignitaries, traditional rulers, and citizens across Nigeria in paying his final respects to the late His Royal Majesty, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, the revered Awujale of Ijebuland.
Governor Sanwo-Olu described the late monarch as a towering figure whose reign brought enduring peace, development, and cultural pride to Ijebuland. He noted that Oba Adetona’s passing marks the end of an era, but his life of service, wisdom, and fortitude will continue to inspire generations.
“His Royal Majesty, Oba Sikiru Adetona, was more than a traditional ruler — he was a stabilizing force, a custodian of heritage, and a model of dignified leadership. His presence anchored the community for decades, and his legacy will remain a guiding light for Ijebuland and beyond,” Governor Sanwo-Olu said.
The Governor extended his heartfelt condolences to the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, the Adetona royal family, the good people of Ijebuland, and the entire Ogun State.
“Though his departure is a great loss, we are comforted that the values he championed — integrity, service, and unity — live on,” the Governor concluded.
