A 39-year-old man, Oluwatomi Oliyide, allegedly fled his Osogbo home after brutally assaulting his wife, Odunayo Oliyide, for demanding support for their children. He reportedly beat her “till blood started gushing from her eyes” and then escaped the scene .

Victim’s background: Odunayo, 32, is a fashion designer and mother of two. She began living with Oluwatomi in 2019 without a formal wedding. She left her work to care for their children but struggled financially due to his lack of support .
Previous history: She later discovered he had married and violently separated from two other women .
Trigger incident: Disputes escalated after she insisted he contribute to feeding and schooling the children. She recalled:
> “He prefers to gamble… rather than sponsoring his children in school.”
Assault details: On a Wednesday, after returning from a church event and rehearsal, she instructed him not to use her cooking gas. He responded by assaulting her — punching her eyes and causing serious injury .
Aided by a human rights activist, she was taken to the hospital, and the case was reported at Dada Estate Police Station
