The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, to congratulate him on his new role. Mr. Rufus Ogungbemi, Coordinator of the Lagos unit of the organization, applauded the new council boss for welcoming them to the local government and guaranteed him of total collaboration within the purview and operations of the National Directorate of Employment.
In his message, Ogungbemi said, “We are coming with a different approach this time to empower our people and train them. We have defined a system whereby proper data will be taken about the beneficiaries, monitor their progress, and ensure that they themselves become employers of labor after the training.” He added, “We will appreciate your office for logistics support on publicity, and mobilization through the offices of the councilors representing various wards due to their closeness to the grassroots.”
The Chairman, in his remarks, said, “Thank you for coming, and I really appreciate you. I can confidently tell you that we will support you and mobilize our people to participate. In fact, we have a program in our WISE Agenda to support small-scale business owners with a soft loan and also the agricultural sector. We are planning to acquire a massive expanse of land outside of Lagos State to support people who want to venture into farming. The government will also be the major buyer of the farm produce so as to sell to our people at a reduced rate.” Akinpelu further affirmed, “Our administration’s major focus is to create jobs and ensure food security for Alimosho residents, among other laid-down plans.”
