Chief Mueez Adegboyega Akande Finally Laid to Rest in Grand Style

Last Friday, Ibadan bid farewell to one of its most revered sons, Chief Mueez Adegboyega Akande, a philanthropist, politician, devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and High Chief of Ibadan. The burial ceremonies, which began on October 23, were a testament to his profound impact on the community.

 

Burial Ceremonies

The festivities kicked off with a White Disco Party at Manhattan Hall, beside Signature Tower, Eleyele, on October 23. This was followed by a Christian Wake Keeping at Winners State Headquarters, Bashorun, between 4-5 pm. Finally, Chief Akande was laid to rest on the Friday 23rd October, 2024 at a private cemetery.

Dignitaries in Attendance

Prominent figures attended the funeral, including:

 

– Sen. Oluremi Tinubu Wife of the President highly represented

– Governor of Kogi State represented by the SSG, Pastor Mrs Folashade Arike

– Olu Ibadan Oba Olakulehin

– President General of Ibadanland Council Barr. Ajewole Ajeniyi

– Wife of the former Governor of Oyo state Mrs Ladoja

– Chief Mrs Lola Akande former Lagos Commissioner

– Akeredolu Alfred, a close friend of Chief Akande and younger brother to the former Gov of Ondo State

– Iya Oloja of Ibadan Land, Alhaja Iswat Abiola Oyinlola Ameringun

– Other notable personalities among whom are Alhaji Shina Ajala, Chief Media Editor of Brooom Nigeria, Prince Babatunde Kolawole

 

Chief Akande’s commitment to the community and philanthropic efforts will be deeply missed. His enduring legacy and influence in Ibadan and beyond are reflected in the outpouring of support and tributes from across the nation. Rest in peace, Chief Mueez Adegboyega Akande his impact on Ibadan and Nigeria as a whole will never be forgotten.
