The Director of the Centre for Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMICO), Adams Otakwu Ph.D, has alongside others, been inducted as Member of the National Institute (mni) by the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, at the graduation ceremony of the Senior Executive Course (SEC) 47 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, Plateau State.

Dr. Otakwu, after receiving the award, expressed gratitude to God Almighty, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and the Director-General of NIPSS, Professor Ayo Omotayo for the opportunity to participate in the course. He said the knowledge and intelligence acquired would enhance his contribution to national security and development in Nigeria.
The Vice President, who represented President Tinubu at the ceremony, reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to transforming NIPSS into a globally recognised centre of excellence by 2030. Shettima emphasized the importance of evidence-based policymaking and leadership development in Nigeria, and commended the graduands’ research on the maritime domain, which underscored the links between security, livelihoods, food security, environmental protection, and national cohesion.
The event was attended by notable dignitaries, including Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, Chairman of the NIPSS Board, Senator Ken Nnamani, and President of the NIPSS Alumni Association, Ambassador Emmanuel Okafor. Professor Omotayo, the Director-General of NIPSS, highlighted the institute’s achievements under its five-year strategic plan, stating that the Vice President’s presence underscored the Federal Government’s recognition of NIPSS as Nigeria’s premier policy and strategic research institute. Governor Mutfwang also applauded the Federal Government for its support to NIPSS, noting that Nigeria stands to benefit immensely from the institute’s research outputs.
