The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari, who was laid to rest today in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State.
In a condolence message personally signed by the Governor, he described the late President Buhari as a leader whose life was devoted entirely to the service of the nation.
> “Today in Daura, we bid a final farewell and laid to rest former President Muhammadu Buhari, a man whose life was wholly devoted to the service of our great nation,” the Governor stated.
> “In this moment of grief, my wife, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, and I, along with the entire government and people of Lagos State, extend our deepest sympathies to his dear wife, Hajia Aisha Buhari, his children, his extended family, and all those across Nigeria and beyond who feel this profound loss.”
Governor Sanwo-Olu lauded the former President’s legacy of discipline, integrity, and patriotic service, describing him as a statesman who left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s political and socio-economic landscape.
> “We pray that his soul finds eternal rest, and we ask that God grants his loved ones, the people of Katsina, and all of us the strength to bear this loss with grace,” the Governor concluded.
The Lagos State Government joins the rest of the nation in mourning a man whose leadership and principles shaped the trajectory of modern Nigeria.
