Muhammed Babangida has confirmed he accepted President Tinubu’s appointment as Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture.
A letter circulating online—allegedly penned by Babangida—claimed he turned down the appointment for personal and professional reasons.
The Presidency, via spokesperson Olusegun Dada, dismissed the letter as false and malicious, stating Babangida “gratefully accepts the appointment” and appreciates the President’s confidence in him .
The statement also pledged to identify and hold accountable those responsible for spreading the forged document .
Babangida’s appointment was part of a wider set of strategic approvals by Tinubu on July 18, 2025, aimed at bolstering leadership across federal agencies .
Bottom line: The rejection letter was a forgery, and Babangida has officially accepted the role and is set to chair the Bank of Agriculture.
