In a significant political milestone ahead of the July 12 Local Government Elections, the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially unveiled its 57 Chairmanship and Vice Chairmanship candidates across the state’s Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).
The high-profile event took place at the APC State Secretariat on Acme Road, Ikeja, where party leaders, stakeholders, and loyalists gathered to witness the symbolic presentation of flags to the candidates. The flag-off ceremony was led by the Lagos State APC Chairman, Hon. (Pastor) Cornelius Ojelabi, who commended the candidates for their dedication and urged them to uphold the party’s values at the grassroots level.
Present at the event were members of the powerful Governance Advisory Council (GAC), leaders of the Conference 57, and other prominent figures within the party structure, who showed strong support and solidarity ahead of the polls.
“This unveiling is not just about presenting candidates, it’s about reaffirming our commitment to effective governance and people-centered leadership at the grassroots,” Ojelabi stated during his address.
He also emphasized the importance of unity and consistency within the party, describing the candidates as “tested and trusted individuals” who will drive the APC’s development agenda in their respective localities.
The mood at the venue was one of celebration and resolve, as party faithful chanted slogans and waved party flags in support of their local candidates. Many described the event as a show of strength and preparation by the APC to retain its dominance in Lagos’ political landscape.
With the July 12 elections drawing near, the APC appears poised and confident, banking on its deep-rooted presence in the state and the popularity of its candidates across the 57 councils.
The unveiling marks the beginning of full campaign activities as the party rallies its base for what is expected to be a closely watched election cycle.
