The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Kebbi Area Command, has announced plans to auction 35,725 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) seized from smugglers attempting to move the product across Nigeria’s borders.
The announcement came during the maiden press briefing of Comptroller Mahmoud Matawalle Ibrahim, the newly appointed Customs Area Controller for Kebbi State. The event was attended by top officials from NDLEA, NAQS, and other security agencies.
Key highlights from the briefing include:
- Seizures & Auctions:
- 14,750 litres of PMS valued at ₦8.85 million intercepted by Operation Whirlwind Zone B.
- 20,975 litres of PMS worth ₦12.58 million seized by Kebbi Command officers.
- The total 35,725 litres will be auctioned, and proceeds remitted to the Federal Government.
- Revenue Generation:
- The Command recorded a 36.13% revenue increase in September 2025, totaling ₦25.6 million, up from August earnings.
- Anti-Smuggling Successes:
- Items seized include:
- 100 bales of used clothing
- 444 wraps of Cannabis Sativa
- 143 mini sacks of donkey meat
- 140 cartons of foreign spaghetti
- 100 bags of foreign rice
- 20 jerrycans of vegetable oil
- Total Duty Paid Value: ₦109.6 million
- Items seized include:
- Interagency Collaboration:
- The Cannabis Sativa and donkey meat were officially handed over to the NDLEA and NAQS, respectively.
Comptroller Matawalle praised the dedication of his officers and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s borders and curbing smuggling activities.
