The Ibeju-Lekki Local Government has successfully concluded its one-week Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) registration exercise, enrolling a total of 11,348 beneficiaries across all wards. The initiative is part of the Federal Government’s ongoing effort to provide targeted social support to vulnerable households under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The registration drive, which combined both physical enrollment and online registration, was executed to ensure maximum reach and inclusion, especially among residents in remote and coastal communities.
The ward-by-ward enrollment figures are as follows:
- Ward A: 1,218
- Ward B: 1,240
- Ward C1: 1,215
- Ward C2: 889
- Ward D: 985
- Ward E: 1,494
- Ward F: 1,375
This brings the total number of physically registered beneficiaries to 8,416, while an additional 2,932 residents registered through the online platform — bringing the overall total to 11,348.
Speaking at the presentation of the final registration report, the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, commended the CCT Committee for their diligence, coordination, and commitment to transparency throughout the exercise.
“This exercise is a major milestone for us in Ibeju-Lekki. It reflects our commitment to building a local government where every resident, regardless of their background or location, is accounted for and supported,” Hon. Olowa stated.
He emphasized that the creation of a reliable Social Register would serve as a crucial tool for effective policy-making and the equitable distribution of welfare programs.
The Chairman reiterated that the Conditional Cash Transfer programme is in direct alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu, which focuses on lifting millions of Nigerians out of poverty through direct social investment.
“We are proud to support Mr. President’s vision. This programme is not just about cash—it is about dignity, inclusion, and hope. It is about giving our people a platform to thrive,” he added.
Hon. Olowa assured residents that the process of verification, approval, card issuance, and disbursement will be conducted in a fully digitized and transparent manner. He also announced that the Social Register will be periodically updated to accommodate new households and evolving community needs.
“This register will not gather dust. It will be a living document—regularly updated and used to guide real, impactful policy decisions that touch the lives of our people,” he said.
With the registration now complete, the local government will commence the next phases of the programme, which include:
- Beneficiary verification
- Card issuance
- Cash disbursement
These steps will be carried out in accordance with national guidelines and in collaboration with relevant agencies to ensure accuracy and accountability.
The Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer initiative in Ibeju-Lekki is part of a broader effort to strengthen social protection systems, foster financial independence, and reduce poverty across Nigeria. The success of the registration exercise marks a significant step in actualizing this goal at the grassroots level.
Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to people-centered governance, saying:
“This is only the beginning. We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that every resident of Ibeju-Lekki has access to opportunities, support, and a better future.”
