1. Who is Oluwayomi?
Oluwayomi Oluwapelumi is a purpose-driven woman, a voice for the voiceless, an entrepreneur, and a passionate advocate for societal progress. She wears many hats — international journalist, editor, on-air personality, interior designer, and the founder of the Societal Concerns Organization and Media Network.
Her work sits at the powerful intersection of storytelling, community development, and impactful advocacy. Oluwayomi believes that media should not only inform, but also inspire, transform, and challenge society to be better.
2. How was growing up like for you?
Growing up was a tapestry of love, resilience, and life lessons. I didn’t have everything, but I had enough to dream. I was raised in an environment where values mattered — integrity, faith, and empathy were seen as life’s true currencies. Those formative years were filled with books, bold ideas, and the deep belief that a single voice could echo across the world if used wisely.
3. How has your background shaped the woman you’ve become?
My background is my compass. It taught me to rise beyond limitations, to speak the truth even when it trembles, and to lift others as I climb. I grew up observing everyday heroes — teachers, mothers, civil servants — making quiet yet impactful change.
That inspired me to create platforms that spotlight those shaping society from behind the scenes. I am a mosaic of every experience, every trial, every victory, and every whispered prayer of faith.
4. What does being a woman mean to you?
Being a woman is carrying strength with grace, power with poise, and empathy with intelligence. It is both a privilege and a profound responsibility. Women are often the invisible pillars of society.
To me, being a woman means rewriting the narrative, standing tall in your truth, and creating space for other women to rise. It’s about living without limits, even when the world tries to define you.
5. How do you define beauty?
Beauty, to me, is authenticity. It’s found in purpose, in kindness, and in the courage to be yourself — even when the world demands a mask.
It’s not just what you wear; it’s what you carry within. A woman walking in her purpose and lifting others along the way shines with a beauty no mirror can reflect.
6. Describe your style in three words.
Elegant. Bold. Storytelling.
My style is a visual reflection of who I am — whether it’s a vibrant Ankara rooted in culture or a sleek blazer that speaks leadership. I dress to express, to empower, and to remind the world that identity is power.
7. What fuels your passion?
Purpose fuels me. Knowing that my voice, my pen, or even my presence can bring hope to someone else keeps me moving forward. Every child rescued, every youth mentored, every voice amplified — it all reminds me that the work matters.
My faith is also my fire. It gives divine meaning to my mission and grounds everything I do.
8. How do you relax and unwind outside of work?
I find peace in quiet moments — journaling, listening to music, enjoying nature, or walking through art galleries. I also enjoy movies that stir thought and music that speaks to the soul.
Mentoring young changemakers is something I cherish deeply. It recharges me — pouring into others, and then retreating into my stillness.
