New revelations have emerged concerning the tragic death of Air Force cadet officer Chidiebere Onyeomereneche, debunking earlier assumptions that he drowned in a swimming pool at Hotel Royal Damgrete, Umuahia, Abia State, on April 9, 2024. According to an autopsy conducted on June 29 and confirmed by medical specialists, Chidiebere’s death was caused by intracranial haematoma and a skull fracture, suggesting he was murdered and his body thrown into the pool to cover up the crime.

The late officer’s father, Mr. Ephraim Onyeomereneche, shared the autopsy report with journalists on Tuesday, confirming that his son did not die from drowning, as initially reported. The results indicate severe blunt head trauma, with injuries concentrated at the occipital and right parietal regions of the skull, which led to his untimely death.

Mr. Onyeomereneche believes his son’s death was the result of foul play, orchestrated by one of his colleagues. However, the autopsy report, authenticated by a team of renowned medical specialists, including Prof. M.A. Nnoli and Dr. Chukwuegbo C.C., rules out poisoning, stating that Chidiebere’s fatal injuries were caused by blunt trauma.

The report reads: “We certify the cause of death to be intracranial haematoma, skeletal injury (skull fracture – occipital and right parietal region), and soft tissue injury (blunt head trauma – occipital region).”

The findings further explain that the damage to vital nerve structures in the back of Chidiebere’s neck, which control cardiovascular and respiratory functions, likely led to his sudden death. The family is now calling for a thorough investigation to bring the culprits to justice.

The tragic incident has sparked widespread calls for transparency and justice, with the public demanding answers surrounding the true circumstances of Chidiebere’s death.
