Yusuf Buhari, son of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, has expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the Buhari family for the outpouring of love, support, and solidarity shown by Nigerians during their time of mourning.
Speaking during the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held in Abuja, Yusuf Buhari thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, members of the Federal Executive Council, and the military leadership for standing with the family following the demise of the former Head of State.
“This period has been a deeply emotional and challenging one for our family,” Yusuf stated. “We are overwhelmed by the show of love from Nigerians across the country, from the leadership to the ordinary citizens. On behalf of the entire Buhari family, I express our heartfelt gratitude to President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima for their kindness, prayers, and personal gestures.”
He also commended the National Assembly leaders, service chiefs, and Nigerians at large for their tributes and visits, saying they reflect the strong bond between the late president and the people he served.
Yusuf Buhari noted that the family remains comforted by the enduring legacy and goodwill of the late president, and called for continued prayers for his soul and for the nation at large.
Former President Muhammadu Buhari passed away earlier this month, prompting a nationwide period of mourning and tributes from global leaders, institutions, and citizens.
