In what can be described as a defining moment for the political future of Lagos State, Local Govt Chairpersons and their running mates were officially unveiled as the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairmanship and Vice Chairmanship candidates for the forthcoming July 12, 2025 Local Government Election in Lagos State.
The formal presentation of the party’s flag to all Chairmanship and Vice-Chairmanship candidates of the party across the 57 LG/LCDA’s took place at the APC State Secretariat, Acme Road, Ikeja, in the presence of the GAC members, Party faithful, stakeholders, and top members of the Lagos APC leadership.
The State Party Chairman, Hon. (Pastor) Cornelius Ojelabi, led the symbolic handover ceremony, which was witnessed by leaders of the party’s advisory council, members of the Conference 57, and prominent political actors from across the state who came to lend their support and reaffirm the strength of the APC’s grassroots presence.
The atmosphere at the event reflected unity, enthusiasm, and optimism, as the APC gears up for another round of local government elections.
[6/20, 7:41 AM] +234 904 801 4739: In a call to action, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has encouraged candidates from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to prioritize socio-economic initiatives that will uplift residents’ lives, should they be elected in the upcoming local government elections.
Speaking at the campaign kickoff event today at the party’s secretariat in Lagos, Governor Sanwo-Olu, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, emphasized the importance of focusing on critical areas such as infrastructure, healthcare, education, and agriculture.
Earlier, APC Chairman in Lagos, Honourable Cornelius Ojelabi, urged candidates to engage constructively with their fellow contenders from the primary elections, warning them against any actions that could undermine the party’s commitment to people-centric governance.
Out of more than 439 aspirants who participated in the electoral process, 57 candidates were successful in securing the party’s nomination. The local government elections are set for July 12.
