The Association of Industrial Pharmacists of Nigeria (NAIP) has made a historic move by breaking ground on a state-of-the-art Research Centre at the Coordinated Wholesale Centre (CWC) in Oba, Anambra State. The project is part of a national plan to establish modern pharmaceutical research hubs in Kano, Lagos, and Anambra, aimed at transforming Nigeria’s drug distribution landscape and tackling drug insecurity.
The groundbreaking ceremony was led by Chief (Dr.) U.N.O. Uwaga, with HRM, Igwe Ezechuamagha I of Ogidi Kingdom as Guest of Honour. NAIP National Chairman, Pharm. (Sir) Bankole Aminu Ezebuilo, expressed gratitude to Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, for donating the land, and reaffirmed NAIP’s commitment to quality, safety, and pharmaceutical innovation.
Top stakeholders in the pharmaceutical industry attended the event, including past presidents of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), senior government officials, and industry leaders.
The Anambra centre will focus on quality control, regulatory compliance, temperature-regulated warehousing, and professional development. It will also host training and collaborative research sessions, reinforcing Nigeria’s place in the global pharmaceutical value chain.
This initiative marks a milestone in building a more structured and secure pharmaceutical ecosystem in Nigeria, with Anambra leading the charge for excellence in healthcare delivery.
