The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted three days of thunderstorms and rainfall across many parts of the country, starting from Monday through Wednesday.

In a weather update released in Abuja, NiMet said parts of the northern region including Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, Taraba, Adamawa, and Kaduna would experience thunderstorms early in the morning. Other northern states such as Borno, Yobe, Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, and Gombe are also expected to see rain and thunder activities later in the day.

In the central part of the country, early morning rainfall is expected in the Federal Capital Territory, Niger, and Plateau, while thunderstorms are likely in the afternoon and evening over areas such as Benue, Kogi, and Nasarawa.

The southern region will begin the day with cloudy skies and light rain in parts of Lagos, Ogun, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom. By afternoon and evening, areas including Oyo, Edo, Rivers, Imo, and Delta are predicted to witness thunderstorms and light showers.

By Tuesday, northern states like Bauchi, Borno, Taraba, and Jigawa will see more thunderstorms and heavy rainfall, both in the morning and later in the day. Central states will experience similar patterns, with the weather changing from cloudy skies in the morning to rainy conditions in the evening. The southern region is expected to have rain showers throughout Tuesday, especially in coastal and inland areas.

On Wednesday, northern states such as Zamfara, Kebbi, Kano, and Katsina are expected to start the day with storms and continue to have heavy rainfall until the evening. The central region will also face moderate rainfall later in the day, while the south is likely to witness light rain from morning till night.

NiMet warned that strong winds could come ahead of the storms. Residents are advised to stay safe by securing loose items, avoiding driving in heavy rain, and staying away from tall trees. People are also urged to unplug electrical devices during storms
