Kanu’s arrival this morning, Friday, July 18, 2025, comes amid tight security and limited courtroom access, as proceedings resume under the watch of presiding judge, Hon. Justice James K. Omotosho.
Earlier, ABN TV reported that the court had approved only ten individuals from the defendant’s side to be present in the courtroom for today’s session. The approved list includes eight lawyers—among them several Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs)—as well as two close associates: Hon. Obi Aguocha and Prince Emmanuel Kanu.
The restriction has been criticized by observers who argue it undermines public transparency in such a high-profile trial.
Today’s hearing is expected to focus on the no-case submission filed by Kanu’s legal team, following the Federal Government’s formal closure of its case during the last sitting.
