In another display of compassion and commitment to community welfare, the Executive Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Otunba Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede, has come to the aid of a young boy, Master Michael Muhammad, who was found wandering the streets during school hours.
The chairman, popularly known as Kendoo, encountered the boy during an inspection visit to an ongoing project along Amusa Street. Upon inquiry, he discovered that Michael had dropped out of school because his mother could no longer afford the associated costs.
Deeply moved by the child’s plight, Otunba Oloyede immediately pledged to sponsor Michael’s education and also enroll him in a vocational training programme to ensure he gains practical skills alongside formal learning.
In a further act of generosity, the council boss extended his support to Michael’s mother, Mrs. Aishat Muhammad, by placing her on a monthly salary to help sustain her family and strengthen her small business.
Speaking through his media office, the chairman reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to human development, stressing that “no child in Oshodi-Isolo should be denied education due to poverty.”
“Education remains a powerful tool for change. We will continue to identify and support children in vulnerable situations to ensure they have access to both schooling and skill acquisition opportunities,” Oloyede stated.
Overwhelmed with gratitude, Mrs. Muhammad described the chairman’s intervention as “a divine blessing” that has rekindled hope for her family.
“I am really happy today for the support and helping hand the chairman, Kendoo, has offered to my son and me. I will forever appreciate his gesture and ensure my son focuses on his studies and vocation,” she said with tears of joy.
Michael, visibly elated, also expressed heartfelt appreciation to the chairman, praying that God continues to bless him for transforming his life and giving him renewed hope for the future.
The act has since drawn widespread commendation from residents, who hailed the council chairman for his consistent humanitarian efforts and people-centered governance.
